A Practical, Imaginative Approach to Learning:

Norbel School provides a superior education for students who have the intellectual potential to succeed academically, but because of a learning difference may have experienced frustration in traditional school environments. As a result, their academic performance does not reflect their true potential. Our education professionals understand this. That is why we make sure that they have the resources and the training to discover what motivates and sparks interest in each student—and to use this knowledge to develop and modify learning objectives on an ongoing basis.

While students accept responsibility for their progress, teachers work tirelessly to create a warm, supportive learning environment that ensures success. Norbel's exemplary teaching staff devotes extra time on subject areas where a student's interests may be peaked or extra instruction is needed.

Students are taught to maximize their strengths and to employ strategies, tools, and processes that minimize their weaknesses. They develop a firm foundation in independent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. As a result, they are able to successfully bridge the gap between their intellectual potential and academic achievement.

Norbel teachers are Maryland state certified with a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Special Education, Education, or content areas. Academic and social supports are built into the student's program on a daily basis to help that individual meet with success. Academic programming, interpersonal skills development and individual support services are the hallmarks of a Norbel education.

Norbel High School :
Norbel High School builds on the lower and upper school foundation and offers a challenging educational experience that paves the way for future success. The high school academics are demanding but planned according to each student's strengths and weaknesses. An affective model for social growth supplements the academic curriculum. The program offers our young men and women the built-in supports they need to be successful, independent learners. Our faculty is dedicated to fostering an environment that stresses teamwork, consistency, and quality. Norbel students are encouraged to develop their personal strengths and a sense of responsibility to become productive citizens within the community. Norbel's guidance office matches career and collegiate opportunities with individual interests and abilities. Norbel prepares students for a variety of endeavors beyond the high school experience.
